Call the lab before your visit and confirm pricing. Many labs will quote a cash price that’s lower than what they bill Medicare, especially when you ask in advance.

Ask:

  2. “What is the Medicare-allowed price?”
  3. “If Medicare doesn’t cover, what will I owe?”
  4. “Will you provide pricing in writing before my visit?”
